Most of the wildlife available to tourists is located in Uganda’s national parks and reserves.

Uganda is famous for its rich biodiversity and is home to a wide variety of birds and mammals including some which are unique to the country.

The range of mammals includes gorillas, chimpanzees, tree-climbing lions, topi, elephant, zebra, giant forest hog, lion, monkeys, giraffe, hyena, Cape buffalo, Uganda Kob, waterbuck, leopard, hippo, warthog, crocodiles and various antelope.

The range of birds includes the Shoebill, Martial Eagle, Black-rumped Buttonquail, African skimmer, Chapin’s Flycatcher, Pink-backed Pelican, White-winged Warbler, Papyrus Gonolek, Papyrus Canary, Corncrake, Lesser and Greater Flamingo Bee-eater, African Fish Eagle, Chocolate-backed Kingfisher, the White-thighed Hornbill and Puvels illadopsis, White-winged Warbler, Darter, White Pelican, Yellow-billed Duck, Long-tailed Cormorant, White-winged Black Tern, African Finfoot, Great White Egret, Night Heron.
