Vultures? Facing extinction?

Hooded VulturesTo many people, vultures are not attractive both physically and because they are associated with scavenging on rotting carcasses. But have you ever thought where Africa would be without them? Who would clean up road kill, abattoir waste and even dead animals in the national parks? And the risk of disease would increase without these free cleaning services. Yet African Vultures are under threat from humans who kill them for traditional medicines and cultural uses and poison them either accidentally while targeting other animals or deliberately as they give away the location of poachers.
