It is hard to beat this short break.

Full itinerary

Day 1:   7:00am – Your guide will  collect you in Entebbe or Kampala (accommodation not included) and you will travel north to Ziwa. The journey is on a good road, takes you through some beautiful countryside and provides your first glimpses of life in rural Uganda. Arriving at Ziwa, you join your guide for rhino tracking and to hear about the work of the sanctuary re-introducing rhino to Uganda. These are amazing animals to watch and, if you lucky, you may even get to see one of the babies born at the sanctuary. After lunch at Ziwa, you continue north for approximately 3 hours into Murchison Falls national park where you check-in to your accommodation and take some time to relax. If your accommodation is on the north bank of the River Nile, you will need to cross by ferry first.  Supper will be provided at your lodge.

Day 2:   What an experience, waking up on the banks of the River Nile to the sights and sounds of the African bush. You take the 7:00am ferry across the Nile (if you slept on the south bank) for a game drive around the delta. This provides a chance to see a wide variety of animals, in the wild, such as giraffe, lions, elephant, buffalo, various antelope and many more. It is then time to return to your accommodation for lunch and a little down-time. Later, you will join an amazing boat cruise upstream to Murchison Falls. This offers more game viewing as hippos, buffalo and elephant cool off in the water along with crocodiles and a range of beautiful birds. The Falls themselves are a sight to see from the boat but you will also alight and trek to the top which takes about 30 minutes. From here you will enjoy spectacular views over the falls, the Nile and the park. Your guide will meet you here and drive you back to your accommodation.

Day 3:   Making the most of what the park has to offer, you rise early (around 6:30am) and head to Kaniyo Pabidi, in the southern sector of the park, for chimp tracking. This is a chance to see our closest relatives in their natural habitat and you will find them so entertaining to watch as they play, eat, groom and move about the forest. When you leave the chimps, you start your journey back to Kampala/Entebbe (accommodation not included), taking lunch en route and arriving in the early evening, where your guide will say goodbye.

Will think this makes an amazing short break but if you have more time why not stay an extra day in Murchison, add some of the optional activities mentioned or continue your safari with our suggested extensions.
