This comprehensive wildlife and primate safari takes you to a range of habitats to encounter a host of wildlife and enjoy exquisite scenery.

Experience primate tracking through tropical rainforests and spend time with Uganda’s mountain gorillas and chimpanzees.

Visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to view southern white rhino and learn about this successful conservation project. Also, view game during boat rides on some of the country’s most beautiful stretches of water.

This safari also allows time to interact with local communities like the Batwa pygmies to learn about their culture and participate in some of their traditional activities.

Day 1: Evening arrival

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by your guide who will take you to your hotel, a short drive away. They will accompany you throughout your safari.

Accommodation: The Boma, Entebbe.

Day 2 - Rhino Sanctuary and Murchison Falls National Park

Day 2: Visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and continue to Murchison Falls National Park

Transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where you will go on a guided rhino tracking walk. The sanctuary is a successful conservation project working on the reintroduction of the southern white rhino into Uganda. Have lunch and later, continue to Murchison Falls National Park.

Day 3: Game drive. Visit the top of the falls. Nile River cruise

Day 3: Game drive. Visit to top of the falls. Boat cruise.

In the northern sector of the park, take a game drive around the Nile delta. Drive to the top of the falls for spectacular view across the Murchison Falls and the park. Then, take a boat cruise on the legendary Nile viewing the game and birds along the riverbanks.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park via Fort Portal.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale national park via Fort Portal

Transfer to Kibale national park (approx. 6 hours) enjoying the sights and sounds of rural Uganda along the way and with plenty of stops to break the journey. Have lunch in Fort Portal before continuing (45 mins) to your lodge where you can check-in and then relax.

Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking. Swamp walk for primates and birds

Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking (12 years+) and swamp walk for primates and birds

After an early morning briefing, track chimpanzees in Kibale forest. Once you find them, you can spend an enchanting hour with them watching as they go about their activities. Later, explore Bigodi wetlands – a community conservation project and home to a wide variety of primates, plants and birds.

Day 6: Transfer through the crater lakes region to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Game drive

Day 6: Drive through the crater lakes region to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Game drive

Head to Queen Elizabeth National Park via the beautiful, and geologically fascinating, crater lakes region. In the early evening take a short game drive in the park to make the most of the excellent wildlife-spotting opportunities.

Day 7: Lion tracking. Boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel

Day 7: Lion tracking. Boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel

This morning, you will join rangers and researchers for your lion tracking experience monitoring the animals, climate and habitat and learning about tracking and animal behaviour. After lunch, take a boat cruise on the famous Kazinga Channel, known for its high concentration of hippos. Also look out for crocodiles, buffalo and water birds along the shores.

Day 8: Game drive in Ishasha. Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Day 8: Game drive in Ishasha. Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After a two-hour drive, you will reach Ishasha, home of the famous tree-climbing lions. Go in search of these adorable animals and large herds of various antelope on a game drive. After lunch, continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – home of the endangered mountain gorillas.

Day 9: Gorilla tracking

Day 9: Gorilla tracking (15 years+)

After an early morning briefing, you will trek into the forest with your group in search of your gorilla family. Once found, you can watch the gorillas for one magical hour as they eat, play, groom and sleep. A truly memorable experience. On your return, relax at your lodge.

Day 10: Batwa trail experience. Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Day 10: Batwa trail experience. Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

This morning, meet the community from one of the oldest tribes in the world, the Batwa pygmy people. They will take you through their former home – the forest – where they lived in harmony with nature (5 – 6 hours). Hear their fascinating stories and participate in some traditional activities. Later, you transfer to Lake Bunyonyi – Africa’s second deepest lake approx. 2 hours away.

Day 11: Canoe ride on the Lake

Day 11: Canoe ride on Lake Bunyonyi

A canoe trip on Africa’s second deepest lake starts your day! Explore some of Lake Bunyonyi’s 29 little islands (many of which have a historical story connected to them) including the Punishment Island. Later, enjoy some downtime in this stunning location, relaxing at your lodge or taking a local walk.

Day 12: Travel to Lake Mburo via. Game drive

Day 12: Travel to Lake Mburo national park via. Game drive

Transfer to Lake Mburo national park. After your lunch en-route, continue to the park and go on an early evening game drive. Look out for the zebra, impala, eland and other wildlife.

Accommodation: Rwakobo Rock, Lake Mburo National Park.

Day 13: Nature walk and travel to Entebbe via the Equator

Day 13: Nature walk and travel to Entebbe via the Equator

Start your day with a guided nature walk for about two hours. This provides a different pace and a different view of the park and you will learn a lot from your guide as you go. Keep an eye out for giraffe, translocated here from another park – another great conservation success story. After lunch, return to Entebbe, passing across the Equator en route.

Day 14: A boat ride through the swamp channels in search of Shoebill. Evening flight home

Day 14: Shoebill search. Evening flight home

Visit Mabamba wetlands, one of Uganda’s 12 RAMSAR sites – sites of international importance to conservation. Take a boat ride on this extensive marsh, in search of the globally threatened Shoebill and other water birds. Return to visit Entebbe’s craft village for souvenir shopping as you wait for your transfer to the airport for your flight home.
