Chimpanzee tracking

Chimpanzee tracking in Uganda

Chimpanzees live in social groups and are highly entertaining to watch whether up in the canopy, on the forest floor or in sanctuaries. Their behaviour varies somewhat between groups but they are all capable of learned behaviours like grooming, feeding and using tools. They are clever and share 98% of their DNA with humans – yes, they are our closest relative!

On a wild chimp tracking experience you can expect a guided walk through the forest and then spend an hour observing the chimps.

In the Ngamba Island sanctuary or the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre the chimps are best observed at feeding times and their are opportunities for experiences like keeper talks and volunteering.
