22 Oct Education Meets Adventure in Uganda & Rwanda

Here at Venture Uganda Travel we have two sides to our travel business in Uganda and Rwanda:
- Safaris and adventure holidays
- Educational visits for universities and schools
Our work takes us to all corners of these East African countries, giving us incredibly detailed knowledge of both destinations. This means we have a huge product range, whether it’s holidaymakers looking for classic safaris, off-the-beaten-track adventures, and activities to suit your interests, or educational institutions wanting a field visit that helps students develop academically and personally.
As the new academic year begins in many countries, we’ve put together this newsletter to showcase our educational visits (that will inspire holidaymakers too!). Uganda and Rwanda are beautiful, safe, and affordable countries, offering something extraordinary. They provide the perfect context for students to learn and develop, providing life-changing travel opportunities.
We’ll be with you every step of the way, from planning to preparation, in-country and beyond, with our professional and experienced staff leading the way. If you’d like to learn more, why not book a video call with Venture Director, Lesley, to get some ideas and discuss your requirements?
School Trips
Most of our school trips combine:
- Visits to relevant organisations
- A challenge activity, like hiking
- Time at a local school or service project
- A recreational activity, such as a couple of days on safari in a national park
Accommodation is usually in local hotels and campsites, with a limited range of homestay opportunities too. Trips are led by our experienced staff, who work closely with our partners in the field, like local schools and communities, so students can learn and grow in a safe, ethical, and supportive environment.

University Field Visits
Our university field visits are specialised courses relating to academic disciplines such as development studies, environmental management, tourism and hospitality, geology, or art/fashion/textile design.
Courses are designed to meet the educational objectives set by the clients at either undergraduate or postgraduate level and include:
- Staying with host organisations
- Visiting relevant speakers/communities/organisations
- Data collection activities
- Teamwork on activities and challenges
- Presenting/reporting findings
- Academic sessions with accompanying or host lecturers
- Of course, there’s some fun too! There will also be recreational elements to the trip.
These courses are hugely popular with students, applying what they learn in the classroom to real-life situations. They will develop skills, make friends and contacts, and gain valuable experiences for future careers. If you’re ready to find out more, get in touch.
Crossover Visits
Some elements of these educational visits are also fantastic for holidaymakers to experience. Over the years, we’ve adapted elements of our educational trips to make them available to travellers. These crossover visits allow you to experience:
- Sensitive school visits
- Coffee cooperatives
- Art galleries
- Mango farm with wine and juice making
- Fabric weavers
- Fishing villages
- Local markets
We’re proud to say our visits receive outstanding feedback – so much so, repeat visits are very popular!
We’d love to chat with you about our crossover visits and the other tourism experiences on offer in Uganda and Rwanda that could be included in your holiday.
