It’s the new year, which can only mean one thing: peak holiday-planning season. And creating holidays of a lifetime is what we do best.

In this month’s newsletter, we thought we’d summarise all that Uganda and Rwanda have to offer, from bucket list moments to hidden gems. This is our home, so we use our local knowledge to design customised itineraries to make sure we provide the best experiences for visitors, while also ensuring your holiday makes a contribution too.

We love to chat, so if you’d like to talk through your travel plans, schedule a call with us.

Incredible Wildlife Safaris

We’re pretty proud to say we have some incredible wildlife: the Big 5, big cats, and fabulous birds. But if primate tracking is on your list, then Uganda and Rwanda are unbeatable locations. We have mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, and golden monkeys to track, while you’ll also have a chance to spot plenty of other primate species.

Tracking mountain gorillas, in particular, is an experience like no other, as Uganda and Rwanda are the only places in the world where you can track gorillas safely. Who wouldn’t want to see these wonderful creatures in their natural habitat? This really is one for the top of your bucket list!

Magnificent Birding Opportunities

Speaking of remarkable creatures, the birding here is also unbelievable, with over 1,000 species in Uganda and a further 700 in Rwanda. Thanks to the fantastic variety of habitats throughout these countries, there is a vast array of bird species to be spotted, and our specialist guides are here to help you find them. Don’t forget your binoculars!

Projects You Can Support when you visit Uganda

Want to give back while you travel? We have a patch of land next to a forest fragment, north of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. We encourage and welcome visitors to stop by, if you’re passing this way, to come for a walk and plant some indigenous trees to help improve climate and habitats and protect the forest.

Delicious fresh food on a tour of Uganda

A (Delicious) Taste of Uganda & Rwanda

Food-lovers are in for a treat! We have so much delicious local food for you to try.

A traditional meal might include rice, potatoes, steamed green bananas, chapati, and pumpkin, served with sauces such as meat, fish, chicken stew, beans, gnut stew, or vegetable curry.

Why not try specialties too, like Luwombo (food traditionally cooked in banana leaves), rolex (breakfast of chapati and omelette), and Katogo, a hearty one-pot breakfast dish? Plus, there is a fabulous selection of fresh fruits and salads. And don’t forget street food like roasted sweet bananas or cassava. We hope your mouth is watering just reading this!

When Should You Visit Uganda and Rwanda?

You might be wondering when is the best time to visit.

This depends on what you’re looking for – the rainy seasons can be just as rewarding as the dry seasons. However, generally speaking, if you want to make the most of the sunshine, then December to February and June to September would be a good fit. We have plenty of information about it in our blog.
